The week that was: Jul 5th-11th
There’s a piece I’m working on for Things… which has a snake vibe and now I’m seeing them EVERYWHERE - this was in a Vietnamese place we went for lunch recently.
Working on…
More Things Men Have Said To Me Instead Of Hello things, of course. I have two weeks left until my summer holiday and I would LOVE to have the whole collection completed before we go away (I’m so close). I wrote about the third piece here, and you can catch up on the first two pieces here.
I’ve started planning/conceptualising a radically different sort of sales campaign for a collection I’m releasing in September - it’s a cross between a detective story and a treasure hunt, and I guarantee it will be unlike any sales sequence you’ve ever received ever.
Thinking about…
How I want everything (or as much as possible) in my business to be ‘art’ in some way - how can I make marketing and selling feel like art? How can I make admin feel like art? How can I make every interaction feel lovely for everyone involved?
Reading…
Amazing Grace: A Life of Beauford Delaney by David A. Leeming
I picked this up from a library display on the strength of the painting on the cover, and was delighted to discover a brand new (to me) artist. I’m finding a sense of kinship in how he channeled his experiences as a marginalised artist (Black, gay, and wrestling with mental health) into such vibrant, joyful paintings.
Watching…
Babette’s Feast - a magic gem of a film which just makes you want to hug everyone and eat a damn good meal and drink wine and then hug everyone again. Watch when you need your faith in humanity restored.
Listening to…
I’m trying to summon up the courage and audacity to pitch a conversation about the Things… collection to The Guilty Feminist podcast (no guts, no glory - right?) so I’ve been revisiting old episodes for vibes reasons.
