If you're anything like me, you feel everything dialled up to eleven, and these days there's rather a lot to feel. The news. The state of things. The seemingly constant horrors. Some days the darkness can feel all-encompassing.
So here's my small mutiny against all that. Every weekday for three weeks in November, I - assisted by my dear friends the Little Wobbles - will send you one little light. A poem. A piece of art. Something to marvel at. A bit of good news you’ve probably missed.
Nothing that asks anything of you - just proof, arriving daily, that it's still worth being here.
Because I don't believe joy is frivolous. It’s not inappropriate in the face of hardship, or something you have to earn the right to. I believe it's the thing that keeps us going - it’s not a distraction from the work, it’s the thing that makes the work sustainable. Joy is the point. Joy, actually, is resistance.
Each light is delivered by a Little Wobble - a tiny magical cat-shaped sprite, channelled from beyond the veil (and materialised in pigment and glitter) to take care of us all in times of need.
