A rising tide lifts all boats
Between 2018 and 2023, I ran a business called Eli Trier Communities where I helped the people I dubbed “Quiet Revolutionaries” with networking and community building.
Every week I wrote a newsletter called The Sunday Letter.
This is one of my favourite issues…

"Friendships between women, as any woman will tell you, are built of a thousand small kindnesses... swapped back and forth and over again."
― Michelle Obama, Becoming
Hey lovelies
I'm still a bit fluey this week, so I'll try to keep this short so I can crawl back under the duvet and carry on binge-watching Sex Education on Netflix (have you seen it? Hilarious).
I've been thinking a lot this week about relationships, and about female friendships in particular. More specifically, the extraordinary generosity that exists between women, and especially among those of us running online businesses.
I feel very fortunately to have clients who have become friends and friends who have become clients - and that's exactly how I like it.
So, I just have two quick things to say to you this week:
1) When you're out in the world making connections, networking, looking for people to work with etc, don't prejudge your connections. Don't say, well, that's a client, that's a friend, that's a competitor... Just reach out to anyone who trips your kindred spirit radar - you have no idea where it might lead, and you might possibly end up working with your best friends.
2) When you do connect with someone new, go out of your way to show them how awesome you think they are. I read somewhere recently that we wait to see how much other people like us before we invest anything in a friendship, so be brave and be the one who makes the first move(s). Some cool things you can do to show someone you really like them:
Give them a shout out on social media and encourage your peeps to follow them.
Introduce them to someone else in your network that you think they'd love.
Share their stuff - link to their latest post, share the course they're promoting, recommend them to others.
Keep in touch + just check in and see how they're doing once in a while.
Be the Labrador and wag your tail at everyone.
And on that note, I'm off to lie down - have a fantastic week!
Lots of love and gratitude
Eli xx
