Working on…

I had a big fatigue crash this week after all the excitement of filming and completing various projects, so all of the things I was planning on working on got bumped. As a chronically ill person I have to be very careful with managing my energy, and sometimes everything just has to pause for a minute so I don’t crash and burn.

Thinking about…

I don’t know a single person who isn’t exhausted, demoralised, and having a pretty rotten time at the moment. Personal circumstances are difficult for all of us, the world feels like a hostile place, and there doesn’t seem to be any end in sight. I have no idea what the answer to any of this is, or how to make it better, but self-compassion, reminding myself that change is inevitable, and remembering that ebb follows flow follows ebb follows flow has been helping a bit this week.

Reading…

10 Minutes 38 Seconds in This Strange World by Elif Shafak

This book is both brutal and beautiful in equal measure. I adored it. I’d not read any Shafak before and now I’m working my way through her entire back catalogue.

Watching…

This week has been one for pure escapism so we’ve been binging old episodes of The Office (the American version) whilst curled up on the couch with comfort food and blankets (it’s not really cold enough yet to warrant blankets, but still…).

Listening to…

Yesterday was Lars’ and my anniversary so we’ve been listening to the playlists my dear friend Sam made for us as a wedding present - the whole event was made infinitely better by her exquisite musical taste and every year we go back and re-listen to them and reminisce.
