Sci-fi femme fashion fabulosity

This vid is a brilliant exploration of the way fashion and gender have flip-flopped and intertwined over the centuries, as well as the way in which sci-fi always seems to be a time-capsule for the era it was created, even when imagining the far future.

It made me think of Ryan Conrad and his Against Equality movement i.e. the premise that the LGBT rights movement is stuck solving problems within existing power structures (such as marriage equality or the military), rather than challenging the status quo and imagining a radically different future.

It also reminded me of José Muñoz and his theory of queer futurity - the idea that queer identity is a future-oriented force that resists the limitations of the present moment.
