Gold boots, a book proof, and a very sexy magazine spread
If you came for a Studio Visit this week, you would see…
Snow!
As if I needed an excuse to stay at home
Copenhagen is blanketed in snow at the moment, and the canal outside our building is frozen solid. It feels like ages since we’ve had a proper winter. It’s quite magical - unless you have to go outside, which I try to avoid.
Gold circus boots
Roll up roll up
Something I absolutely love to do is upcycling and customising clothes, and I painted these boots gold a couple of years ago. I wear them all the time, but they’re not real leather and unfortunately the plastic is slowly degrading so I need to repaint them every few months. This time I removed the flaky top layer completely and painted the remaining surface - the texture is a bit rough but I kinda like that.
They still another couple of coats but then they’ll be back in my wardrobe again!
I’m planning on doing a YouTube video soon on some clothes upcycling - I think it’ll be a lot of fun.
Oooh book proof!!!
OMG OMG OMG!
There’s very little I get more excited about than books, and especially when those books are made by me and are the culmination of a year’s worth of hard graft!
This book gathers together all of the writing around Things Men Have Said To Me Instead Of Hello as well as the gorgeous imagery, plus behind the scenes stuff and snippets from the exhibition.
The proof copy is a bit wonky, unfortunately, and I need to do a bit more work on the layouts, but I cannot wait to share it with you when it’s done!
As always, Friends of the Haus get first dibs, swiftly followed by newsletter subscribers.
The Bigger Picture magazine
I was so honoured to be invited to feature in the inaugural issue of The Bigger Picture magazine. I had an amazing time being interviewed by the lovely Rachel Allen, and the equally lovely Petchy (Solveig Petch) did an incredible job on the design.
All in all it is a spectacular magazine and I’m delighted to be in it - you can see a flick through below. Oh, and if you want your own copy, it’s for sale on the Triple Diamond website here.
Forgotten art!
So pretty!
I was rummaging in some of my art books to get ideas of layouts for the Things Men Have Said To Me Instead Of Hello book and these gorgeous prints fell out! I had squirreled them away to keep them safe and instantly forgotten all about them.
Now I just need to find some frames for them.
A new kindred spirit?
New weirdo books by a cool weirdo
Lars came into the studio the other day, and said, “I’ve found this woman. I think she might be someone really special, so I’ve bought you some of her books.”
These are said books, and I have to admit, they look pretty cool. I know nothing about her, other than hearing her described as ‘the Dorothy Parker of the cyber age’ but I’m intrigued. I will report back.
