Secret sketches, fairgrounds, and a big bowl of newspaper
If you came for a Studio Visit this week, you would see…
Secret sketches
Shhh, secrets
I’ve been planning out the final few pieces of the Things Men Have Said To Me Instead Of Hello collection this week, so I have sketchbooks and notebooks piled up all over the place again.
BUT, I wouldn’t actually show you my design sketches because if I did you would strip me of my artist title and run me naked through the streets chanting ‘shame, shame’.
I use a lot of stick figures.
Artist fairground
Thanks, Sam!
My brilliant friend Sam bought me this book for my birthday - it’s about an insane artist-made amusement park that was created in Germany in 1987, and included work by people like Basquiat, Keith Haring, Salvador Dali and Sonia Delaunay. It’s astonishing, and I’ve been using it to inspire some of the 3D fabrication I’m working on with Things…
A big bowl of newspaper
The papier be mâching
Speaking of Things… I am papier mâchéing my little socks off at the moment! I have two vessels to complete, and a big canvas piece which is going to have a huge three-dimensional element which is also going to be made from papier mâché.
I’m going to be high on PVA fumes and covered in newspaper fragments for the foreseeable future.
Wanna hang out in the Studio with me?
I’m fully booked until August, but you can still contact me for an IRL or virtual visit here and we can get you in sometime after that.
