You spin me right round - like a record, baby
The weeks that were Sep 6th - Oct 3rd
Someone was very happy I was stuck in bed for so long.
Working on…
Slowly finding my feet again after being pounded into the ground by two relentless weeks of labyrinthitis (aka spinny-headed ear-flu fuckery). I’ve been taking very gentle tottery steps this week and very gently chipping away at a few projects (including designing my first ever calendar!!). Lots of naps, lots of breaks, and lots of self-compassion.
Thinking about…
The chronic-illness roller coaster. I am getting better and better these days at planning out my life and my business as if I’m going to be completely incapacitated at any moment. The peace of mind I felt this time knowing that videos were still going out and most things could keep ticking over was immense. For years I’ve felt like my life has been one step forward, two steps back, and every time I’m plunged back into inaction I lose momentum and have to start again from scratch. I am annoyed that I didn’t get a newsletter out, but only because I had one written and ready that was just waiting for a final check before I scheduled it, otherwise I would have had a completely smooth unbroken run. But you’ll get an updated version of that next time so it’s not wasted.
I also had an extra buffer week booked into my schedule, and I’d allowed around three times extra time for every task on my upcoming list, so I haven’t even fallen too far behind with my extremely ambitious plans for the run up to Christmas. This is the first time (possibly ever?) that I’ve managed to plan for my actual capacity and not the capacity of the idealised perfect version of peak me, so I’m feeling remarkably smug right now 🤣.
Reading…
Nothing! I’m in a terrible reading slump right now. A combination of life being busy, finishing a book series I adored, followed by being sick for a couple of weeks has meant that I’m so far out of the reading jet-stream it feels like I’ll never get back into it. I do have a few tricks up my sleeve to get my reading mojo back, though, so I’m not too worried.
Watching…
I couldn’t watch anything whilst I was ill, but once I started to feel a little better I was able to listen to stuff for a bit. This pod has been stored in my to-watch-later list for ages, and it was great to finally dig into it. A wonderful perspective on neurodivergence from a couple: one of whom is autistic and one of whom has ADHD. As someone who has more ideas than an army of me could possibly get done, I particularly liked the episode on ADHD and creativity.
