The weeks that were: Nov 16th-29th

Working on…

Oooh I’m on the home stretch with Things Men Have Said To Me Instead Of Hello! This week I finished THREE of the remaining five pieces, and finally released the Send Nudes zine/photo project. I’m so excited to see this project come together and I cannot wait for the exhibition in January. (BTW, if you’re in the area I’d love for you to come to the opening in Copenhagen on Friday 23rd Jan, or you can come and see the work in situ at MDS Gallery until March 1st.)

I’ll share the pieces I completed with you next week so stay tuned for that.

Thinking about…

As we head into the final leg of 2025 I’ve been thinking about how I want 2026 to look. This year has been something of a slog, and whilst I’m so proud of the work I’ve made, creating it has been somewhat challenging! I’m feeling a real call towards play, next year. no big projects, no epic conceptual excavations of self. Just using up art materials: turning back to my sketchbooks, making zines, animation, collage, surface design, puppets, and of course, writing. I’m looking forward to just drifting through my creativity for a bit and letting it carry wherever it wants to go next.

Reading…

The Argonauts by Maggie Nelson

I read this earlier in the year but I sat down with it again this week as it was bristling with post it notes (always my marker for a good book) and I wanted to pull out the quotes and references I’d marked. I ended up reading nearly the whole thing a second time! It’s a fascinating, almost stream-of-consciousness style, exploration of gender, motherhood, bodies, and family.

Watching…

Riot Women

Wow. This show is 6 hours of pure gold, and the perfect demonstration of why women over 40 need punk! I watched this with tears streaming down my face and I fell in love with every one of these remarkable women. A must watch.

Listening to…

My dear friend Christa is a podcast fiend, and she always sends me the most fascinating episodes on a whole range of topics (god I love intellectually curious people). This one on the history of tango was a real treat.
