Working on…
Using up art materials & making A LOT of videos. Fortunately, those two things are feeding each other right now! I’m on a tunnel-vision, blocking-everything-else-out, single-minded, monotropic mission to film as many YouTube videos as humanly possible over the summer so that I can not only start to publish there weekly again, but also give myself a lovely long runway (my goal is three months!). That way my puny human form can crap out on the regular without it affecting my publishing schedule - hurrah! I know I have some medical stuff coming up in the next year, and I’m determined to be able to rest and concentrate on healing without even thinking about work (whilst also maintaining momentum). I currently have 6 videos filmed, and 2 already edited, so I’m well on my way.

I still fucking love painting even though I’m not doing it much right now. I had a great time making patterned papers for paper chains (see the image above), to use up some old paint before it dried out completely, and also for a ‘chat & make’ style video (like this one), where I talk about something interesting whilst making something of little consequence. It was delicious to play with paint again, and I thoroughly enjoyed the sensory experience of it, as well as the aesthetics - my studio just looks/feels nicer when there’s painting going on! It’s good to know the love is still there, even though the desire to do it is low right now.

Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
This is one of the extremely rare occasions where the film is actually better than the book. You’ll remember that I adored the film (and sobbed all the way through), but the book barely dampened my eyes. Story-wise, they’re very similar, and the humour is still there, but the book just didn’t bring it home in the same way the film did.

Yonderland (2013)
This is a very silly British fantasy show which is all puns and puppets (you know how I feel about puppets *swoon*). Some of the jokes are a bit groan-worthy, but it’s a wonderfully warm light-hearted watch that never takes itself too seriously and has some great laughs. And PUPPETS!
