Hibiscus from Lisbon’s Botanical Gardens

Working on…

The book of The Flourishing collection - all the paintings, the stories, and the treasure hunt in one gorgeous, sexy, full-colour book. I’m using a print-on-demand service for this so it can be printed and shipped from wherever YOU are in the world, rather than having to come directly from my studio in Denmark.

I’m also still shuffling forward on Things Men Have Said To Me Instead Of Hello - I’ve set myself a loose deadline of mid-October to get the final pieces completed.

Thinking about…

How to make this business more robust and sustainable. Selling physical paintings has been the bulk of my income for the last three years, but I feel much more comfortable when I have multiple diverse streams of income - especially with the complications surrounding shipping to the US! I’d also love some more leeway to make art that doesn’t necessarily directly translate into a thing people can buy, such as performance, and video, and story-telling projects like The Flourishing campaign. I have some really fun ideas for how to make that happen, and how I can bring you along for the ride.

Reading…

The Muse - Jessie Burton

I love books about artists, and female artists in particular, and this delicious book weaves a wonderful mystery between the past and the present, the muse and the artist, men and women. And I was fascinated by the ways she explores the nature of opportunity - who gets to shine in this world, and why? I loved The Miniaturist by her as well.

Watching…

Psycho Beach Party

I went into this film knowing absolutely nothing about it (other than it was a queer cult classic), and came out… well, baffled, but also delighted. If you love really stupid, OTT, campy parodies (which I do) you’ll love this. It’s utterly batshit.

Listening to…

Loving this podcast - the guests are so good! Fave episodes so far are Courtney Love, Beth Ditto, and Kate Moss.
