The week that was: Nov 30th - Dec 6th

Working on…

Things! I only have one piece left to complete - the big boobs sculpture (captured above at a particularly entertaining moment in the process 🤣). The rest are finished and photographed and ready for next month’s exhibition debut. The first piece sold last week - before the collection has even been on show - so I’m very excited about that! I can’t wait to see them all together in the gallery. And if you’re in the CPH area do come and take a look - you can find the details of the opening here, and the show will be on until March 1st.

In the meantime, feast your eyes on the latest pieces on the collection page, and click to read the story behind Sales Pitch.

Thinking about…

What I’m going to do over on YouTube next year. I want to see it as more of a playground for whatever takes my fancy, so I’m thinking more vlogs (obvs), video essays about misfittery, animation, puppets, art stuff, conceptual stuff, making things, videos about getting dressed, more book content, more BTS scenes stuff. My (very loose) goal is to make 20 videos next year, but we’ll see how it goes. Most of all I just want to play, experiment, and have fun!

Reading…

Poor Artists by Gabrielle de la Puente and Zarina Muhammad

This book manages to be both extremely bleak and also warm, funny and somehow, hopeful? It’s a surreal and novelistic critique of the art world that sort of defies categorisation. I absolutely loved the style, and the content is a wild ride, for sure! I’ll be thinking about this one for a while.

Watching…

I’ve had a few friends this year go through some incredibly dark times, not to mention the struggles I’ve had with my own mental heath, so this beautiful video by Struthless feels particularly poignant. Autistic people are up to 7 times more likely to die from suicide, and suicide rates usually spike around this time of year and into January. Check in on your friends, my loves, and take extra good care of yourselves as well.

Listening to…

Thanks go to Jo for turning me on to this awesome podcast. I do try not to be nostalgic about the 90s, but it really was the last good decade 🤣. Well worth a listen! I’ve been binging it in the studio over the last week, and I particularly loved the episode on Nirvana, and also the one with Mary Portas talking about fashion and visual merchandising.
